We have had a busy couple of months since my last diary entry and as with everyone been struggling with the interminable wet weather!

Heather and Curtis have been continuing their success with their elementary campaign and have continued their winning form winning both classes at Swallowfield, Abbey and Addington and have now completed their qualification for the Elementary Winter Regionals and have made inroads into their summer qualification as well. Their training has stepped up and they are now working towards competing at Medium next year. All this interspersed with some training from Ferdi Eilberg as well as working hard with their training at home as well! I am very proud of the pair of them and look forward to their continued success in 2013.

Thriller (Harry) is establishing his partnership with Fiona Lintott for the new season and they are getting on extremely well together and look like they will be a formidable combination next year. Fiona comes over once a week for a lesson and will continue in the new year so should be ready for those early shows.

Rex (Fair and Square) has had a couple of easy months and with the wet weather as it has been we have been lunging him to keep him ticking over from the beginning of December and he now has his front shoes on ready to start back in work in the new year.

Fred (D’Astaire) has also had a couple of easy months and has also started back getting fit from the beginning of December so should also be ready hopefully for those early shows as well. Averil has now bought a house in Yorkshire so travelling down for lessons is going to take her a bit longer than from London but fortunately we are both only ten minutes from the motorway. Think I might have to provide her with some rowdy music to keep her awake on those journeys!

Cambridge has also started his fittening regime, - being such a massive mover we have had to take him slowly to get his muscles fit having had quite a long time off but all is coming together nicely now and I had forgotton quite how breathtaking his trot is!

Aristocrat - small intermediate show riding type sold to Vicky Nicholls

We have had some new additions to the yard over the winter months – Aristocat came to us from Jackie Thompson to be sold. He was a lovely small intermediate show riding type measuring at 152cm as a four year old. He is by Kilvington Scoundrel out of Pussy Galore. He has a charming temperament and has now been sold to Vicky Nicholls one of my pupils. She won the Search for a Star Show Hunter Pony Section at HOYS this year with Courtland JP Charmer who is coincidently out of the same mare as Aristocat! We would like to wish them lots of luck with him.

Also new to the yard over the winter months is Westerdale Regal Max who belongs to Ian Darcy and was produced by Jerome Harforth this season. It was felt that he would benefit from doing something different during the winter months and we have taken him off to dressage competitions with Heather and Curtis. He is a charming character on the yard and has become a firm favourite. He has a fabulous temperament and is lovely to work with. Holly has done three competitions with him and whilst he is not a massive dressage mover, he goes very correctly and has acquitted himself extremely well and had some decent placings in the Novice Open classes. He has also done some dressage training with Rhett Bird as well which Holly has thoroughly enjoyed and so has Max. He goes back to Jerome in the New Year sometime and I am convinced we will see him doing really well in the Intermediate Show Hunter classes. I know he will be sorely missed on our yard and will probably have to be shoe horned out of it!

The last addition is Whalton Showstopper a new three year old large riding horse belonging to Jackie Thompson and Alan Lintott. He arrived at the end of October. A beautiful horse by Kilvington Scoundrel out of a TB mare. We have backed him and taken him slowly as he is a little immature. He has also been to lessons with Rhett as part of his education (also another pull was a lovely indoor school where we could stay nice and dry!) and he has behaved extremely well. He is a fabulous prospect who may well appear on the show circuit later this year but certainly wont be rushed.

New arrivals in the new year are Daldorn Lara’s Theme and also a new large hack/large intermediate show riding type so there is plenty to get our teeth into. We also have Whalton Razzamatazz who we will be competing as well for Claire Cooper again which is really exciting as well as well as Shybont Navaho Girl for Teresa Waters.

I would just like to say an enormous thank you to all my team for all the amazing support they have given me this year which has contributed to our great successes. Each and everyone of them are a vital integral part and at the end of the day it is teamwork that makes us a great force! Also a very big thank you to all my sponsors – again without whose help again our success could not have been achieved. Holly and I count ourselves luck to have all these people on hand to make our lives easier – Many many thanks and heres to a happy and successful 2013 and more importantly lets hope it is a dry one with plenty of the yellow stuff!!!
