Marguerite Lodge and Steph Haslam winning the Novice Riding Horse at Addington
Socialiser owned and ridden by Kate Hall at their 1st affiliated dressage
- and winning on 72.18%!
Cambridge, 3 yr old by Sir Donnerhall. Owned by Holly and myself bought as a 2 year old from Jan Brouwer

We have had a very busy April with all our horses. We went the Addington Grass Roots show with Marguerite Lodge and Steph Haslam. They won the Novice Riding horse and then went on to be Reserve champion. The following week we took Marguerite Lodge (Hannah) and Man of Quality (Jenson) to Four Winds Show where yet again Hannah won the Novice riding horse class with Steph. Jenson behaved impeccably for a four year old and contested the Novice Hunter class where he was fourth. He went immaculately for the judge and was extremely mannerly. His next outing is at Newbury on Bank Holiday Monday where he will do another Novice Hunter class before competing at Royal Windsor in the four year old hunter class. Buriana Cashel has been to Addington to ride round at the shows and she was also very well behaved and will also be coming out at Windsor in the Novice Hack class.

One fantastic bit of news is that Kate Hall and Socialiser (Sam) competed in their first affiliated dressage competition. They won with 72.17% which was a great result. Kate has been riding most days without stirrups at home and her seat and position have improved dramatically and she and Sam have a very good partnership now. Sam still likes to test his pilot at times just to keep her on her mettle!! I am personally very thrilled with Kate - she has been extremely hard working and determined to get on top of her horse as he hasn't been the easiest for her but her dedication has really paid off.

Holly and I went over to visit our three year old Cambridge by Sir Donnerhall in Holland for two days - just before the volcano in Iceland erupted thankfully! He is everything we could have wished for. Holly loved riding him - he has just been backed so still rather green but seems to have a fantastic sensitive attitude to his work. He is coming back home after Royal Windsor week and then he will pootle around for the summer with Holly getting to know him quietly and then in the Autumn Holly will go back over to Holland with him to train which she is really looking forward to.

We have Daldorn Racing Bow - Lady Benton Jones large hack back with us to sell. He is a poppet to have around the yard, is a wonderful mannerly ride and will probably do a couple of shows whilst he stays with us. You can see him on the Horses For Sale section. He is also eligible for the Cherif qualifiers which would be another string to his bow as well as being an intermediate. He has really come on this year being a five year old and has come up in front and is so much stronger.

PolyPads have joined our team so now we have some smart poly pads to wear at the shows and travel boots. I have always used them but mine were getting very old and worn so I am very excited to welcome their support - a huge thank you.

Dalmar under the umbrella of Horseware have also kindly continued their sponsorship for another year. I use the eventing boots every day for working in and they give fabulous protection for my baby horses.

Your Horse also visited out yard in march and did a showing feature on what to wear and what not to wear in the show ring for horse and rider - Jenson, Bridgit and Hannah all modelled the horse bit whilst Holly and I did the human bit - it was all carried out on one of the coldest days of the year! Bridgit ended up being a complete super model and cover girl and looked great in their April edition. Your Horse readers have just voted one their readers to get a makeover at our yard with their horse which we did two days ago. Kate Major and Kipling spent the afternoon with us and hopefully you will all see in the July edition how great they looked at the end of the session.
